Samantha Fish - Wild Heart

Ruf Records recording artist singer-guitarist Samantha Fish, raises eyebrows with her third studio release, Wild Heart, produced by Luther Dickinson (The North Mississippi Allstars/Black Crowes). Special guests include Lightnin Malcolm (guitar), Sharde Thomas (drums) and Memphis session singers Shontelle Norman-Beatty and Risse Norman. The result is a stunning representation of Americana roots music. Wild Heart was recorded in three different studios, as they trekked the back-roads from Louisiana to Mississippi in the fall of 2014. Starting at Brady Blade s Shreveport, Louisiana studio, they laid the basic rhythm tracks and vocals. Luther and Samantha then hightailed it to his Zebra Ranch Studios in Hernando, Mississippi where they had a traditional Hill Country Blues session. Then, finally, all roads lead to Memphis where the duo put the final touches at both Willie Mitchell s Royal Studios and the legendary Ardent studios.

Polyvinyl Anniversary SALE!

Polyvinyl Records

American Football - American Football [Green LP]

2005 reissue LP on green vinyl. Jazz influences took their effect on the shortly lived emo band American Football. All through their self-titled 1999 debut album, you can hear jazz rhythm and timing while the instruments trade off solos like they are talking to each other. Yet, blended with true emo lyrics and musical stylings, the jazz flavoring makes for a one-of-a-kind experience. All of it is due to the understated creative genius of drummer and trumpeter Steve Lamos, guitarish and organ player Steve Holmes and guitarist, bassist and vocalist Mike Kinsella. As a band, American Football disolved into the history books almost as soon as their album was released, but its success continues to grow in their absence. Fan requests for vinyl pressings were eventually acted upon, and several early editions sold out almost instantly. The now standard nationwide reissue on green vinyl remains in print.

Alvvays - Antisocialites [Limited Edition Yellow LP]

Alvvays is due to release its much-anticipated second full-length, Antisocialites, this September. The ten song album is the follow-up to the Toronto-based group's debut self-titled record, which was shortlisted for the 2015 Polaris Prize and featured on numerous year-end "Best Of" lists from Pitchfork, NPR, Rolling Stone, NME, and many more. Bolstered by singles such as “Archie, Marry Me,” and an extensive touring schedule that included multiple full U.S. and European runs, along with performances at Coachella, Glastonbury, and Reading/Leeds (plus Lollapalooza to come this August), the record's word-of-mouth success has translated into Soundscans of over 33K and a combined Spotify play count of more than 30 million streams. Antisocialites is set to carry the band to new heights, with Molly Rankin's distinctive vocals and erudite lyrics taking center stage against a kaleidoscopic backdrop of pop, shoegaze, punk, and some brand new tricks befitting a band that sounds wise beyond its years.

Starfucker (STRFKR) - Reptilians: 10-Year Anniversary Edition [Clear Emerald & Clear Pink 2LP]

Clear Emerald & Clear Pink Vinyl. On Reptilians, STRFKR's second full-length album and first for long-time label home Polyvinyl, the band built on what they had accomplished with their self-titled debut album (2008) and the the Jupiter EP (2009) to create an infectious combination of acoustic instrumentation and electronic production. Originally released on March 8, 2011, Reptilians has since become one of the band's most intriguing and successful releases to date. Featuring fan favorites "Bury Us Alive" and "Julius, " Reptilians was written almost entirely by principal songwriter Joshua Hodges with help from bandmates Shawn Glassford, Keil Corcoran, and long time friend Randy Bemrose. The band mixed with Jacob Portrait in the famed Portland studio The Odditorium. Lyrically, the album focuses primarily on death and the end of the world, two subjects intertwined at the forefront of Hodges' mind following the passing of his grandmother. To celebrate it's 10-year anniversary, Reptilians will be released as a remastered deluxe reissue (2xLP) with 4 bonus tracks and reimagined artwork by original artist Sohale Kevin Darouian.

Japandroids - Celebration Rock [LP]

Vinyl LP pressing. This is the long-awaited, follow up to 2009's Post-Nothing. Celebration Rock is well balanced with a much bigger sound and showcases the band's growth as songwriters. Songs like "Evil's Sway" and "The House That Heaven Built" prove that the Vancouver duo has more than staying power with this sophomore release.
